Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Welcome! If you are reading this letter it is my hope you are interested (or know someone who is!) in pursuing the Panhellenic sorority experience at Coastal Carolina University. As an advisor to the College Panhellenic Council I’m so glad you’re here and am excited to serve as a resource to you on this journey. On our campus I work closely with our CPC Executive Board, chapter presidents and the rest of the OFSL team to foster an inclusive environment where Panhellenic women feel empowered to take on leadership roles, build genuine sisterhood and have the space to grow into the best version of themselves.

While it’s no secret that the sorority experience is a commitment and investment, as a sorority woman myself I have been afforded the chance to see first hand the many ways sorority membership can positively impact one’s life. On the foundational level, I gained a set of sisters, values to strive to live by and a philanthropic cause to support - however this experience is much more than that. I found opportunities to lead boldly in the face of adversity; furthered critical thinking skills to solve problems; leaned into my creative side to execute events and gained skills to collaborate with and delegate to others, just to name a few. I also gained a network of strong female mentors, both within and external to my own organization. Now as an alumna, I have committed to living out my values each day, furthering a positive Greek experience for all students and encouraging access and equity across the fraternal landscape.

Again, there is so much a Panhellenic experience can offer a member, but what I believe in most is the numerous opportunities for personal growth. We find that our members find joy in the challenge of learning to build new relationships within and across chapters; have the chance to learn and practice necessary life and professional skills; and can be the best support systems to one another through peer accountability and sisterhood. Should you have any lingering questions about pursuing membership please feel free to reach out to me at lcharters@coastal.edu or visit our office in the Lib Jackson Student Union, Office B-201. I look forward to walking alongside you in this journey!

As always, Chants Up!
